How Litlas handles personal information

This Privacy Policy describes how Flat Minima Inc. handles personal information provided by people who use the services we offer. By starting to use the service, each user is deemed to have agreed to this Privacy Policy.

We may obtain names, email addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, payment information including credit card details, identification documents, and other personal information through the service or by other proper means. We manage that information appropriately and take the utmost care to prevent leakage, loss, alteration, and similar risks.

We use personal information for the following purposes.

To provide the service and related services.

To provide information about the service, related services, campaigns, and questionnaires.

To improve the service and to conduct analysis, research, and development of new services or products.

To prevent unauthorized use of the service.

To process billing and payments for paid services.

To provide notices about advertising information from third-party advertisers.

To create, use, and provide statistical information that does not identify individuals.

To send maintenance notices and other important communications about the service.

To respond to matters related or incidental to the above purposes, including inquiries.

We do not disclose or provide personal information to third parties without prior permission except in the following cases.

When this Privacy Policy so provides, or when the user has given consent.

When required by law.

When necessary to protect life, body, or property and it is difficult to obtain the user’s consent.

When especially necessary to improve public health or promote the sound development of children and it is difficult to obtain the user’s consent.

When cooperation is necessary for a national or local government body to carry out public duties and obtaining the user’s consent may hinder that work.

In providing the service, we may outsource part of our operations to third parties, including service providers outside Japan, and provide personal information to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes described above. In such cases, we appropriately manage and supervise those contractors.

We use Google Analytics, an access analytics tool provided by Google. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect data. This data is collected anonymously and does not identify individuals. You can refuse this collection by disabling cookies in your browser settings. For details, please refer to the Google Analytics Terms of Service and the Google Policies and Terms pages.

We also use Microsoft Clarity, a behavioral analytics tool provided by Microsoft Corporation. Clarity uses cookies to record interactions such as clicks and scrolls together with the rendered page content (input fields and other sensitive content are masked and are not sent). Microsoft uses the data it receives in accordance with the Microsoft Privacy Statement, including to provide and improve its own products and services and to provide advertising (Microsoft Advertising). Details of the information sent and how to opt out are set out on the external transmission disclosure page described in the next section.

To let you find them again later, we store the URL, title, and time of the paper pages and PDFs you open on the Service as browsing history on our own servers. If you have installed our browser extension, the extension also detects academic paper pages and PDFs you open outside the Service and sends their URL and title to our servers, where they are stored in the same browsing history.

Browsing history is stored only on our servers and can be viewed and deleted only by you. Because it is not transmitted to any third party, it is out of scope of the external transmission rules under Article 27-12 of the Telecommunications Business Act.

You can stop the recording at any time with “Record browsing history” on the settings page. Once stopped, no new entries are saved. Entries that were already saved can be deleted individually, or all at once, from the History page.

On the Service, the Company may have your device send information to external third parties using cookies and similar technologies. Under Article 27-12 of the Telecommunications Business Act (the external transmission rules), the recipients, the information sent, the purposes of use, and how to opt out are disclosed on the separate “Disclosure under the external transmission rules” page.

We may change this Privacy Policy. The latest Privacy Policy will be posted on this page, and the revised policy takes effect on the date it is published.

In accordance with applicable laws, we respond to requests by the data subject concerning disclosure, correction, deletion, addition, suspension of use, and erasure of personal information. Please contact us at the following address for such requests or other inquiries.
