Worldwide, endometrial cancer (EC) ranks seventh among all female cancers with the majority of cases occurring between 65 and 75 years of age.1 In Europe, uterine cancer ranks fourth among female neoplasms, with an incidence of 12.9-20.2:100 000 and a low mortality rate: 2.0-2.7:100 000.2,3 This discrepancy is due to the fact that 80% of ECs are confined to the uterus at diagnosis and present with postmenopausal bleeding, which leads to prompt detection.1
