The Perturbation of Alternating Geomagnetic Fields by Three-Dimensional Conductivity Inhomogeneities

The perturbation of alternating electromagnetic fields in a three-dimensional model with a conductivity inhomogeneity is considered. The general model is that of a semi-infinite conducting half-space with an embedded inhomogeneity of finite extent in three dimensions. The problem is solved numerically and three-dimensional plots of the amplitudes of the field components and their phases at the surface of the half-space above the inhomogeneity for two particular models are given.
