The meaning of some terms has become obscured, and new terms were introduced to compete with older, often equally adequate ones. Regional differences exist in the interpretation of various words. This glossary is provided to clarify the nomenclature and improve consistency with the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) definitions of syncope and related concepts.
